ISS astronauts move Dragon capsule to make room for Starliner

Four astronauts climbed into their Space-X Dragon capsule to move it from a docking port to make room for the Boeing Starliner spacecraft.

How many astronauts does it take to move a spacecraft from one side of the International Space Station to the other?

Thursday morning, four astronauts climbed into their SpaceX Dragon capsule to move it from one docking port to another.

Now, Dragon can do that by itself.

But if something goes wrong during the move, astronauts need to be on board to take over, and possibly use Dragon to return to earth. If not, their ride home would be lost in space.

Thankfully, everything went smoothly. Dragon had to move to make room for the Boeing Starliner spacecraft, which will launch next week.

Right now, Starliner is poised for lift-off from Florida aboard a ULA Atlas V rocket. That rocket was made in north Alabama ULA's rocket factory in Decatur.

ULA's launch team says everything is looking good for the first crewed mission of Starliner, with NASA astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore aboard.聽

Forecasters say the weather should be near perfect.

Lift-off is scheduled for next Monday night at 9:34 central time.
