The Lauderdale County Sheriff confirms no foul play is suspected in the death of an inmate.
Sheriff Joe Hamilton says correction deputies found 58-year-old聽Lewis Dean Simpson unresponsive about 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
Simpson was arrested Tuesday about 6 p.m. for domestic violence and resisting arrest charges.
The on-duty nurse was notified and EMS also responded, but they soon determined he was already dead.
There is no foul play suspected and it is believed the inmate suffered a medical episode.
Simpson's body was transported for an autopsy.
The Alabama State Bureau of Investigations is investigating.
